Sillon, 7 sheltered housing Anderlecht, 2025 with Stam, Enesta, Codives img plan txt
Sillon project involves renovating a 1930s mansion into a community home for a sheltered housing initiative (IHP). This operation requires dividing the current house into different independent units. The project seeks to strike the right balance between regulations, the quality of living spaces, the coexistence of private and communal areas, the sustainability of materials, and the adaptability of spaces. The renovation project is designed with the long term in mind and allows for multiple and changing uses of the premises in line with possible changes in usage, needs, and customs. In the life cycle of a building, the primary structure—the load-bearing walls of the house—is best suited to withstand various future transformations. Using it as the basis for the renovation project allows for the design of flexible and resilient spaces that will retain their qualities over time. The project also aims to promote the reuse of materials, either by reusing materials in situ (ceramic tiles, marble window sills, parquet flooring), by reintroducing unused materials into recovery circuits (doors, blue stone slabs), or by promoting reuse in materials added to the project (new flooring).
